ROSEEvery ROSE has THORNS Sun was slowly setting in the sky, the grass was a lovely green, and up past a horse's knee. The air wasn't too cold, nor too hot. The setting couldn't have been better. Except for one thing. The black filly limping along through the field with a scowl, a scowl that was worse than the worst storm. To her, the sun was in her eyes, the grass was too high, and she was tired. Thinking back on her decision to leave the forest and come to the field, she felt it was a bad one. She wanted to find a nice little grove or something to sleep in so she could return to the forest the next day. The damned field only had a few trees though, no groves whatsoever. The filly had little stamina because of her limp. She had to rest every so often in walking, and you could forget about anything faster than that, maybe a trot for a few minutes, but she didn't often move quickly and rarely for long periods.
There was one nice thing about the long grass though, she could lay down and not be seen, and most horses traipsing through the meadow in the dark would see her. Finally, she decided to sleep hiding in the tall grass. She found a nice spot first as laying down and getting back up was no easy task for her. Slowly, she lowered herself to the ground, grumbling about how there was no shelter at all. Not once did the scowl leave her face as she settled herself. Her legs were neatly folded under her, except for her left hind which she left slightly extended. The ebony filly blended easily into the night and she tucked her head in to her chest and closed her eyes...
Rose had settled herself down to sleep, her left hind leg splayed out. She was nearly asleep when another horse approached her. He was one of her father's big guards, a draft of eighteen hands easily. Fear filled the weanling, she shivered with it.Daddy's guards are really scary and can easily hurt anyone. I'd better be careful! She thought. Then his foot came down on her leg. Slowly his weight was put on the leg. Rose's head flew up, the whites of her eyes showing. She let out a scream, trying to stand and only injuring herself more. The guard, his name was Jet quickly pulled his foot off of her. A black stallion led a group of guards that came rushing over. Rose was in hysterics. The black stallion leading was her father, he killed Jet instantly and sent the other guards away. Rose hadn't calmed at all. His eyes softened and he whickered gently. "My dear, what did he do?" He asked. Rose looked at the body of the slave who'd stepped on her and shivered.
"He stepped on me... h-he stepped on my leg," She said, stuttering slightly. He glanced at her leg, and then helped her up. She watched him, frightened, and a little bit confused. Daddy has never cared about me, so why now? She wondered.
"My dear, you should go to a healer," He said gently. She leaned against him, hobbling along to the healer. She left the dead slave's body in the grass...
Suddenly her eyes flew open and she snorted. She sighed, she very much hated memories of her father. He was so odd. He cruelly killed even his other offspring, but she, after that incident, had always been well taken care off. She never knew why though. She sighed and closed her eyes, this time, dozing off into a peaceful sleep.

She moved with faint sounds, her hooves nearly silenced by the grass surrounding her feet, her mane flickering faintly in the wind as she moved in a trot. It appeared today so far was going to be one of those faint, delicate days. A faint heat, a faint rush of wind, faint sounds . . . faint, faint, faint. Not that the mare minded, as long as her owl companion wasn't faint. She didn't need any more episodes with him leading her into the trees. She snorted, shaking her head at the mere memory of it, before banishing the thought, glancing up at the owl who flew above her head, wings spread in soundless flight. Probably surfing the wind the damned creature. If he let her run into anything, she'd pluck the animal until he was bald. And then some! Sighing she continued her walk deeper into the forest before suddenly the owl changed, shifted. Wings flickering up, quick rapid beats. Someone was close, near by, and she was approaching closer to- A shriek left her muzzle as she tripped over something, hitting the ground on the other side hard, pain flaring up in her bad shoulder as she forced herself up, growling angry glaring into the sky, searching for the sounds of the bird only to realize what she'd fallen over didn't feel like a tree . . . . She snorted, head tilting down, "Uh . . . . sorry?" Her tone was awkward, though anger laced the underside. Damned owl. Letting her run into someone like that. She could kill the damned thing. How embarrassing! "Seducing" Calculating sorry it took so long, honey.

ROSEEvery ROSE had THORNS The night was extremely dark and to see the ebony filly was a near impossible task. Of course, her scent should have kept those unable to see her away from her. The dark filly was sleeping restfully. She slept soundly through the light thump of the hooves of another, and even would have slept through having her leg tripped over. However, the equine who tripped had to give such a shriek. Immediately, she whipped her head up and noticed the mare. Her ears were flat against her head now. Being pissed was a common thing for her lately.
The mare atleast apologized, "Uh...Sorry?" the other fae had said. Rose, however, would not have minded so much being tripped over. But being woken from a good sleep, well, sorry wasn't going to cut it for that! Rose glared at the mare hatefully.
"Excuse me? What the hell is your problem? You fucking woke me up! If you're going to scream like you're dying, go wake someone else up doing it! Rose basically snarled at the mare. She had already been mad, but then she had been woken from her sleep in a place she didn't much enjoy and wished to leave as soon as she had a good snooze. Of course, she didn't plan on sitting there the whole night and dealing with this mare, or any other horse for that matter.
Her dark chocolate eyes displayed the extent to which she was annoyed. Many things contributed to her fury, her mood and her hate of being around others were the top two. The mare's eyes were a beautiful green, and she was light in color. Other than that, Rose couldn't tell much because of the darkness. She knew she was no match for the mare, however, the mare was the one who had woken her.
The femme's silken mane stirred in a rather cold breeze. Slowly, she calmed down from her initial burst. She was still pissed with the mare, but the chances of her calling the mare an idiotic bitch (or worse) randomly were lowered extremely. Rose still hoped the mare went and died in a hole, but no matter. For now, she would just hope the mare would leave.

She landed hard before struggling to climb up, apologizing to who ever it was that she tripped over, feeling a coldness in the air, but blind towards the glare and pinned ears, Excuse me? What the hell is your problem? You fucking woke me up! If you're going to scream like you're dying, go wake someone else up doing it! Sissys' ears pinned at the snarling words, her eyes narrowing as her gaze turned towards Rose, her own voice instantly harsh. "My problem? Oh nothing, just trying to keep the fuck up with an owl that wouldn't tell me what the fuck was in my way. As for screaming, what would you do if you started to feel yourself fall with no idea where the fucking ground is, because said dumb ass - the owl hooted in displeasure - owl didn't tell you to go around a horse laying in the grass." She snapped, beating around the bush about being blind. She tossed back her dark mane, snarling back, "Next time I'll let you sleep and just go run into a fucking tree, how about that. Get off your high horse. Thank you, and good bye." She snapped turning around and running face first into the owl who was hovering at face level. SHe snarled, spitting out owl feathers, "Get moving before I stuff you into a wolf den." The owl lifted high into the air, before moving away, and ignoring the young horse, she started to walk on again, to pissed to even say a real good bye. "Seducing" Calculating sorry it took so long, honey.

ROSEEvery ROSE has THORNS Rose was pissed. She actually took the time to stand. The mare pinned her ears and narrowed her eyes. Her words were harsh, but she was blaming it on an owl. Rose smirked slightly, the mare wouldn't have had to blame an owl if she could see on her own.
"Oh yes, let's blame dumbass bird instead of your stupidity, if you can't see on your own, you shouldn't be galloping through a field in the middle of the night." She snapped. She was pissed again. Honestly, she was tired and the mare just woke her up and was now snapping back.
"I'd like that, yes, go run yourself into a tree, maybe if you do it enough you'll knock some manners into yourself," She snarled at the mare. She wasn't about to hold back on a blind mare who wouldn't be able to fight any better than her.
She glared hatefully at the mare, she was about to vent. She yelled out at the mare. "Fuck you bitch and your dumbass pet!" She said venomously, laying back down to sleep.

The mare was standing up. A scent check had sissy rethinking that however, the filly was standing up. She pinned her ears instantly, feeling the gaze bore into her, and at the fily's next words a dark sneer twisted onto her muzzle, Oh yes, let's blame dumbass bird instead of your stupidity. Sissy was close to growling now, if you can't see on your own, you shouldn't be galloping through a field in the middle of the night. Snarling, Sissy responded quick and fast, "Aww, did the baby wake to soon from her nappy? You going to go run to mommy and daddy like a scared little master-filly. Poor thing." She sneered, probably not her best response, but she tended to have 0 farsight when her blindness was mentioned, and the way this girl did it truly pissed Sis off. I'd like that, yes, go run yourself into a tree, maybe if you do it enough you'll knock some manners into yourself. Sissy took a step forward, "I'd watch your tongue, you little bitch. I might be sight-impared, but I'm not below putting a baby master into their fucking place, you hear me?" Her tone was low, threatening, and in the way she moved one could see she was perfectly capable of fighting, one ear focused around her, the other on the sky above where the owl hovered, wings shifting giving directions. "Clearly someone woke way before their nap was over, so . . . go on ahead. go back to sleep now. Child." Sissy turned then, turning to walk away, ignoring the filly's yelled words. Why should she care what a stupid little foal thought. She didn't. Not . . .one . . . bit.

ROSEEvery ROSE has THORNS The dark equid was already not far from trying to strike out. The other horse was a slave, a slave, and it dared insult her. "Aww, did the baby wake to soon from her nappy? You going to go run to mommy and daddy like a scared little master-filly. Poor thing." Rose glared at the mare with a look that if looks could kill, would demolish. She growled.
"That's it? Baby? Running short on insults are we? Well, first off, cunt, even if I am a baby, I'm not taking shit from a slave. Second off, why would I be afraid of a blind creature that needs a bird to tell it where to go? I don't think a fucking weanling would be afraid of you," She sneered. Rose wasn't afraid of this mare, she may have been handicapped, but there wasn't much the mare could do to her that she couldn't withstand or avoid. It still pissed her off that the mare called her a baby, it was extremely offending.
The dark equid snorted as the other horse stepped forward, it didn't matter how close the other mare was, Rose wasn't intimidated by those things. "I'd watch your tongue, you little bitch. I might be sight-impared, but I'm not below putting a baby master into their fucking place, you hear me?" Rose laughed at the threat, mostly because she found it pathetic, this mare, putting the young filly in her place? The mare had no idea.
"Oh yes, because you think you'd be able to do that to me? You are more than sight-impaired, you just don't have sight. You have no idea, if I thought you could really do damage I would be more respectful, but you're not only a slave, you're blind too. I mean, you can try, but, it'd be silly," The filly said.
The other creature was moving away. Rose didn't care, she was glad for it. "Clearly someone woke way before their nap was over, so . . . go on ahead. go back to sleep now. Child." The mare had said. Rose glared at the mare. The statement wouldn't have seemed insulting at all out of context, but the filly wasn't about to have it. "Normal horses are asleep at this time, and it isn't referred to as napping, but you wouldn't know, you probably can't tell between day and night," Rose said, laying down and watching, should the mare come back.

You were raised a slave just like the rest of us, but as soon as you turned two. bam. Master time. And let me tell you, little precious. Your no better tthen me, if anything, your more pathetic, putting down a blind mare when you clearly have your own handicap, or have you forgotten about your own limb, if anything I think you'd know how hard it is for a handicapped to live in this world, how much harder it is for them to get acceptance. You'd think we'd be on equal grounds, but no, your too busy insulting me to realize you and I could work together. Two handicaps in a world of perfection. We've both survived this long, what's wrong with learning a bit about survivng from one another huh?" SHe paused, before adding, "And don't get so worked up, it just shows how self conscious you really are about life. She said with a laugh, moving closer, threateningly, smirking, "More than sight-imparied. sugar, sight impaired means i have no sight. But it doesn't mean I'm incapable of doing damage." She nodded to her shoulder, the deep scars, touching them lightly, with a smirk, "I don't dodge as well because I take cues from an owl that speaks in riddles," Nyx hooted in defense, but the mare ignored him to grn again, "But I can fight just as easily as anyone else, precious. But obviously this filly didn't care to hear, didn't care to think about any of it, so she turned to leave, "The sun is just high enough in the sky to mark the start of a new day, barely peaking over the ridge," She said instantly, looking back towards the direction of the filly, "I'm sight impaired, not completely defenseless. All my other senses are heightened. I can feel the temperature changing as the sun rises already. So how about you stop judging me, and i'll stop judging you for being so young. Little master mare."

ROSEEvery ROSE has THORNS The filly pinned her ears, at the other mare, her words stung, however, Rose knew that she was indeed correct. The dark creature was quiet, thinking carefully as to what she would say. She didn't take lightly to being called weak, especially by a slave.
"You are wrong on many accounts. I may not ever be able to hold my own in a battle, I may not be able to even walk for long periods, and perhaps I am no better than you, in your book. However, I don't call myself a slave. I could easily have simply given up, lived a life of abuse, never trying to have a life. But I didn't. I know, you know more of your world than I do, as I know more of mine. I don't believe in banding with others, as soon as you suceed, unless they do too, they get jealous, and when they get jealous, they are spiteful. I will do what I plan with my life, without such advice," The young filly said almost calmly. She then spoke again.
"You slaves are a cruel lot, those who can't fend for themselves physically are picked off. I prefer the master's torture of ridicule and insult, atleast then it isn't an imminent problem and they can just not wake up one morning. You talk of acceptance as if it's attainable. Everyone I've met is much more capable than I, or atleast, for now that is," Rose said, hinting slightly that they might not be in the future.
The mare showed scars explaining she didn't dodge well. Rose nearly snorted, she didn't even dodge, she moved to sustain the least damage. She went on, trying to justify herself, or so it seemed. Rose glanced to the east, and shrugged slightly, the mare had been right, but she hardly cared. "Yes, but you can't fight as long, due to the owl's inability to speak clearly. As for you knowing the time of day, I suppose it would be different for one who can't see. You seem to be resourceful though, obviously having found a system for getting around," The dark creature said. She snorted, not judge her for being so young? This mare probably didn't know half of it.
"You'd still judge, maybe not aloud, but how can't you? Just as I'll still judge you in my head for being blind. It is a fact of life, we judge those different from us, just as all the masters think I am silly, that I should give up and become a slave. They wouldn't know, they are simply ignorant after all," The creature said, watching the other mare, she spoke softly, not a trace of anger anymore, now she was simply speaking, with no thought of the wrong she had felt done to her earlier in the night. After all, she was meant to be a lady of aristocratic descent, perhaps it were time she lived up to her father's nobility.
