AXELIndependence is the greatest strength It was an exceptionally warm day, the breeze itself was warm. An eagle was trying to put on a show while still keep up with the briskly paced stud. The large brute was slightly damp, his patterned pelt was no help, the sun had burnt the white spots slightly and scalded the black. He scowled up at the golden eagle, who, after trying to fly upside down, was now plummetting down towards him. The stud swung his hind end around, catching the eagle who quickly righted himself, and flew higher. Axel then continued walking. Ignoring the moronic bird as it attempted several stunts and nearly found itself grounded several times.
"You know Kaz, if you would just fly rather than attempt to kill yourself, everyone's life would be much easier," The two-toned stallion said to the bird who didn't reply, instead, it perched upon the stud's withers. Axel sighed, he wondered sometimes why he had accepted the birds company in the first place. His icy blue eyes scanned the meadow, looking for a tree, the creature desperately needed it, if only to cool himself a few degrees and shelter him from the sun that still burned his skin. His face looked fine except for his muzzle which was peeling; however his whole face was indeed burnt, if you looked carefully you could tell. He found one rather quickly, and altered his path to reach it. Kaz flapped his wings a couple times, hopping up onto a branch. Axel stretched and yawned, not necessarily tired, but simply because. He glanced at Kaz, and then watched the landscape. The stud hoped not to attract any other company, if such company came, said equid was quite sure he would be in an even more unpleasant mood than he was now. He didn't like to deal with company, he particularly hoped they wouldn't be too talkative if they did come.

Burlesque still an innocent Water clung to the hide of the filly, dripping in great beads as her pace ate up the ground. Her head was thrown forward, her legs moving a mile a minute, eyes closed in the pure ecstasy of youth. Her flaxen tail was held straight up, the fuzzy strands billowing out like a victory banner behind the bay filly. She had just left the beach, the scent of salt water still clinging to her skin. In the places it had dried, there were remnants of the salt crusted over the brown hide; the wet portions were nearly black with saturation. The grass tickled her underbelly and caressed her legs as she passed, so much different from the scorching heat of beach sand. When her eyes opened, she skidded to a stop, her legs giving out so that she collapsed to her chest and rolled to her side, flattening the grass as she went. With a giggle, her head lifted from the ground to peer up above the tall grass, looking over the fields for a source of entertainment. After all, a filly could only amuse herself for so long, right? From the tops of the yellowing blades, her eyes locked upon the eagle soaring in the sky; she had yet to notice the master stallion it followed.
Her eyes widened as she scurried to her hooves, falling once or twice in her desperate quest to stand. She shot forward at another gallop, eyes locked on that bird as it fell to land in a branch of a nearby tree. Giddy with the excitement of saying hello, she quickened her pace. When she noticed the stallion standing beneath the tree, it was a bit too late to correct herself. She threw her legs before her, attempting to stop, but instead skid and slammed into his side, ending up laying beneath him. She puffed air up across her lips, tossing her forelock to the side as she rolled from her back to her side, unsure of how to get up from beneath the beast without touching him. "I'm sorry!" She giggled, her voice both breathy and full of the dreamer's tones at the same time. "I didn't see you there, I was chasing the bird I saw before... I think it was a hawk, I meant to ask him but I ran in- OH look!" She practically chirped with joy, pulling herself up from beneath him and grazing his stomach with her back in the process. "It's right there!"She looked back to the stallion with bright doe eyes, joy radiating across her face with the victory of it all.

AXELIndependence is the greatest strength The stud filled his mind with many thoughts, some of his past, some of the future. He lacked attention though, not realizing the filly slave filly coming speeding at him as though to run through him. He had tuned out even Kaz telling him to move. The overo equid was just thinking of how the field was such a hot place and that he ought to move to somewhere a little more sheltered when the filly rammed into his side almost knocking him over.
The two-toned brute was immediately angered at said filly. The filly was now practically under him, he likely could have trampled her with ease, but his manners would never allow him to do something so dreadful. He glared down at the filly. His black mane stirred in a breeze she rolled over onto her side as though she was trying to find a way to get up without touching him. Then she apologized, giggling. The giggle irked him, but it was an apology nonetheless. She then went on to explain how she had been chasing Kaz, and she believed he was a hawk and she had planned to ask him, she started to say she had ran into him, and then she saw Kaz. She stood up rather quickly, bumping his belly with her back. He frowned, stepping to the side to avoid her as she stared up at the eagle. Axel glared at the filly, thoroughly annoyed with her now. Kaz puffed out his chest pridefully, showing off for the filly who announced his presence loudly to the world. Axel still had yet to speak.
"Young lady, you'd best pay more attention to those around you, otherwise you're likely to get yourself in troublesome situations. Kaz would be the bird you saw, he is an eagle," he said in a stern, somewhat quiet tone. He then rammed his side into the tree making Kaz lose balance and have to catch himself. Kaz then perched on the stud's withers, mocking him, sticking his chest out, and opening and closing his beak while speaking with his eyes closed. The stud didn't care what the bird did though, his attention was on the unwanted company now. He should have expected it though, this was a popular hangout afterall.

Burlesque this innocence is brilliant, i hope that it will stay Her head cocked to the side as he spoke, oblivious to the fact that he was annoyed by her. A half smile was fixed upon her muzzle, her forelock covering both eyes. She bobbed her head so that the strands bounced and danced, until she finally gave in and gave her head one strong toss, moving her forelock out of the way so her eyes could stare up at the stallion fully. Her ears were perked forward, transfixed on him. Her gaze shifted between him and the eagle, the innocent spark within them shinning. "I'm sorry sir, I didn't mean to... I was just lost in my game." Her gaze shifted to her hooves which shuffled uncomfortably, expressing the fact that she felt cowed into submission. At least momentarily. "Hi, Kaz..." She was shy now, gazing up from beneath long lashes. "I'm Burlesque. Momma said I needed a pretty name 'cause she said Ima be beautiful, just like her." She was gaining confidence now, her words coming out fast for fear of being cut off. "Do you... Nevermind." She stopped, shifting her weight back and forth so she danced uncertainly, fighting with her mind as she tried to decide what to do.
Finally, she raised her nose up into the air, letting her muzzle brush the stallion's side as she reached for the eagle, her smile returning and her shyness dissolving. "He's such a noble thing! But I think he likes teasing you, 'cause... well... I don't know, maybe I'm just imagining things." She giggled again uncertainly, taking a step forward so that she stood side by side with the stallion, looking out over the meadow wistfully. "You haven't told me your name yet, you know." Her head turned so that she was looking at the stallion now, right into his eyes. "But that's okay, I don't mind, 'cause I think I'd like you to be my friend anyway. And Kaz. I like him, he's fun. I think we should all play a game, like maybe chase, because I like to run... Do you?" Her eyes widened as a sudden realization dawned on her, her hindquarters spinning away from the stallion and then she took a few steps back, running her eyes over him, as if noticing for the first time. "You're a master, aren't you?"

AXELIndependence is the greatest strength The two-toned equid watched the little filly with increasing annoyance. He hadn't asked for this, Kaz seemed to be enjoying the filly though. At the moment, the filly seemed to have a fascination with her forelock. The filly smiled up at him, to him she seemed so innocent. He had a stern look that he was quite sure Kaz was mocking. "I'm sorry sir, I didn't mean to... I was just lost in my game." The filly had said. She looked sorry, and Axel had no doubt she was. She was quiet momentarily.
She was a bit shy at greeting Kaz. The bird bowed in his own sort of bird way. The filly then introduced herself as Burlesque, saying that her mother said a pretty filly needed a pretty name. Axel nodded.
"It is nice to meet you Burlesque," He said, though not adding his own name. The filly started to ask something, but then seemed to stop herself. She looked to be rather full of energy. Not the type of company the stud fancied, but then again, he really didn't fancy company. The filly seemed to be reaching for Kaz. However, Axel had very little of an idea as to what she actually was doing.
"He's such a noble thing! But I think he likes teasing you, 'cause... well... I don't know, maybe I'm just imagining things." The stallion looked up, thinking. and then sighed rather heavily. "His species is noble, and sometimes he looks noble, but that bird is not noble," He replied. The filly then took a step forward, she was side by side with the partly ebony stud. He cast her a sideways glance with icy blue eyes.
"You haven't told me your name yet, you know." She said. Then she went on, saying it was fine and that she knew they were going to be friends anyways and how she liked Kaz. Then she asked if he'd play a game with her. He gave her a quizzical look, not saying anything. He had to wonder if it even occured to her that no grown stallion would play chase with a filly, unless perhaps they were the filly's father, which he certainly wasn't. "Young lady, I don't play chase," He said. Then she seemed to realize he was a master. She was suddenly very shy. He sighed, refraining from rolling his eyes.
"Yes, I am indeed a master," He said watching her to see if she'd run off or if he would be put through dealing with her even longer.

Her daddy had often taken on a serious expression with her, though she knew it was something she could always get rid of. All she had to do was say the right thing, make the right move, and she could get him to laugh. When confronted with any stallion who was determined to remain stern, she responded in the same way she would with her father. Try on a million different costumes until you find the one he wants you to wear; does he want you to be serious, playful, cautious, curious, scared? She always found this the most entertaining part to try and figure out, like a game... and she couldn't lose, never had before, so why should she now? She narrowed her eyes slightly, attempting to crack the puzzle he was setting out in front of her. Why wouldn't he respond to anything but the most formal of affairs? Ah; she figured it out. He wanted to appear regal, calm, collected. A crooked smile slipped across her lips, broadening with resolution. She would have to teach him to loosen up and play, then. Congratulations, Axel; you've found yourself a shadow and this shadow comes with a mission...
The bird still fascinated her, though in her experience, eagles were either mean or proud or both. She was cautious with him, simply because she didn't want those talons to break her skin or that beak to close around her ear. That just wouldn't satisfy her needs. "It's nice to meet you too, sir. But I don't know your name, and daddy told me you should always use someone's name when you know it. Do you mind if I call you Kaz's Keeper, then? Because... well... that's all I know about you right now..." Her voice trailed off, starting strong yet finishing in a mere embarrassed whisper. Her eyes slid from his face to his hooves, her own shuffling uncertainly. Her smile returned though, when he called out Kaz on being un-noble. What a funny thought! "No? Why not?" She asked, her voice and face brightening again like only a child's could, though it all fell again when he said he wouldn't play with her. "Oh... okay. Well, if you change your mind... I'd really like to..." And then he admitted he was a master, and she just nodded in understanding. "It wouldn't be right for a master to play with a slave foal. Even if my mommy and daddy are masters and I will be one day, too. Right?" She questioned, tilting her head so that her ears flopped awkwardly. "Daddy said a master must always conduct themselves nobly. Are you trying to teach Kaz to be noble?"
